Built Around the Specs That Matter
A spec sheet can make any table sound good. The numbers worth paying attention to are the ones that decide how the table plays after the first year: the slate, the pockets, the frame, and the rails. Those are the four places the Velocity Tournament was built to get right.
1" Backed 4.5" 7Slate: 1-Inch, Three-Piece, Backed
The playing surface is premium 1-inch slate in three pieces. One inch is the thickness that holds a true, flat bed for the long term, and three-piece construction lets an installer level each section and seam them into a single continuous surface. The slate is also backed, meaning each piece carries a wood backing bonded to its underside. The backing gives the cloth a secure surface to attach to and adds support along the edges of each section. It is a detail most people never see, and one that shows up in how the table plays years later.
Pockets: 4.5-Inch Corners, 5-Inch Sides
Pocket size is where a lot of home tables quietly go easy on the player. Generous openings forgive a poor shot, and a table that forgives everything does not teach anything. The Velocity Tournament uses professional pocket openings: 4.5 inches at the corners and 5 inches at the sides. Shots have to be hit with intent. When they fall, they have earned it.
Frame and Rails: Made to Take Constant Play
Under the cabinet, 1.5-inch sub-frame beams support the slate on a reinforced internal frame, and each leg is secured with 7 bolts. That combination keeps the table stable and level under the kind of daily use a commercial table sees.
The top rails are solid wood, protected with a high-pressure laminate surface. Rails take more contact than any other part of a table: elbows, forearms, cue bridges, drinks that should not be there. The laminate keeps the surface looking right after years of it.
Smoked Grey Oak and Brushed Nickel
The Velocity Tournament is finished in Smoked Grey Oak, a cool, low-sheen tone that reads as modern without chasing a trend. Brushed nickel trim and corner caps add a clean metal edge. It fits a contemporary bar or clubhouse as naturally as a home game room with dark walls and good light, which is exactly what the film shows: a city apartment at night, and a sunlit room the next day.

The Velocity Tournament comes in 7, 8, and 9 feet, with playfields of 40 by 80, 44 by 88, and 50 by 100 inches. A 9-foot table is the size serious players train on, but it needs a large room to play without compromise.
